Bismillah Kalima
Hazrath Hasan Basri(R.U.A)
  1. World in the place of action; thus one who lives harboring hate and malice for it, attains to success himself as well as the world. But one, who lives lost in its love, harms him self and is good for nothing to the world too.
  2. One who knows that death is bound to come: One who knows that Doomsday is inevitable: One who keeps the faith that he has to appear before Allah any day: how can he pass a carefree life? His sadness and sorrow will certainly keep on increasing.
  3. One’s good deeds are rewarded in the measure he passes his life in sorrow.

Hazrath Hasan Basri(R.U.A)

Hazrath Hasan Basri was born in 31 A.H. and lived up to 110 A.H. in his childhood he was fortunate enough to drink the water left in a cup by the Prophet Muhammad (571-632 A.D) when the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) came to know about it he remarked:
"This child will receive from the Lord an amount of knowledge equivalent to the water drunk."

When they brought Hasan, as a new-born baby, before Hazrat Umar Ibn Khattab (Allah be pleased with him), he remarked:
"Call him Hasan, as he is beautiful."

Before turning a Sufi (mystic) he was a flourishing jeweler. Once he proceeded to Rum (in Asia Minor) during a business tour, and put up with the minister of the Sultan."You will have to wait for some days as we are at present accompanying the Sultan as if you so desire." Hasan accompanied the Sultan and his party. They entered a vast wilderness. In the middle of it they saw a magnificent tent fixed up and guarded by army officers. The officers entered the tent and the then came out. Then they circumambulated it and went away. They were followed by some very old , respectable citizens, who like the officers, entered the tent, uttered some words, came out , went round the tent and then went away. Then came some medical experts who did likewise. Then came two hundred extremely beautiful young maidens, who entered the tent and acted as the previous ones had done. Lastly came the Sultan accompanied by his ministers; he too entered the tent ,uttered some words, then circumambulated the tent and went away.

Surprised at the event Hasan inquired of the minister what all that meant. The minister replied:

"A very handsome and brave son of Sultan died and his corpse which was buried in a tomb over which stands that tent."
Every year all of us visit it and perform the ceremonies like the ones you saw today. First, the members of the army approach the tomb and addressing the Prince say:
"If by our arms, we could save thee from the God of Death, we would have sacrificed our lives for the fulfillment of that aim, but we are all helpless."
Then come the learned citizens who say:
"If our knowledge and experience could save thee we would have surely averted thy death, but before death we are helpless."
Then come the medical men who say:
"If our medicines could save thee, we would have left no stone unturned to save you from the clutches of Death, but we were powerless before it."
Then come the beautiful maidens who say:
"If our beauty and accomplishment could save you, we would have sacrificed our all to save you, but we were all powerless before Death."
Then enters the Sultan accompanied by his ministers and courtiers and says:
"My son: we tried our best with our army, doctors and all other means at out command to save thee, but no change was possible in divine dispensation. We, therefore, bid good-bye now and shall visit you next year at this time."

This incident made such an indelible mark on the mind of Hasan that he decided to pass the rest of his life in prayers to face that inevitable end. He immediately returned to Basra, gave up his roaring business, took to solitude and vowed never to smile in his whole life. And for 70 years he passed every moment of his life in prayers. The cause, which made Hasan most famous, was that he had only one thing as necessity------Allah. In his utmost anxiety to meet Allah he renounced everything on earth.
